About us

DIRECTOR/OWNER
David Fazio, also known as "Coach Faz” is the leader and inspiration behind every facet of Hooptown. The camp began with 20 campers and a vision and through Faz’s dedication, determination and hard work the camp has grown into the Hooptown experience that we know today.
Coach Fazio has just completed his 33rd year as the head coach at Andover High School and has won over 500 games and was recently inducted to the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Association. He still has the energy and enthusiasm to interact with his staff and each camper to inspire everyone who walks through the Hooptown door. He doesn't plan on retiring from coaching anytime soon.

HOOPTOWN
MISSION&VISION

Play Hard, Play Smart, Have Fun

We provide both a  Summer Camp  and Fall Clinic  experience that emphasize the fundamentals of the game, teamwork and the value of sportsmanship.
Our campers’ abilities range from beginner to rising high school star. If you are looking for a FUN basketball camp experience where FUNdamental skills are taught and sportsmanship and character values are emphasized – Hooptown is the camp for YOU!

LEARN MOREOURPHILOSOPHY

HOOPTOWN provides children the opportunity to learn and develop basketball skills.

In 1987, when Coach Fazio opened and directed his first summer basketball camp – he was hoping to share his love of the game of basketball with the youth in the community. He believed then, as he believes today, that by making summer camp FUN, kids would fall in love with the game.  That philosophy still holds true, as he continues to “entertain” the younger campers with his humor, engaging personality and of course basketball skills and drills.  With our younger campers – at the “Ivy” and ” Big Ten” level of play- all of the instruction, games and competitions have been designed with the campers basketball education and “entertainment” value in mind.
With our older and more experienced campers – playing at the “College” and certainly “Pro” levels – we focus more on team concepts, successful game strategies and individual basketball improvement. In addition to the traditional ball handling, shooting, rebounding and defensive skills we begin to emphasize more advanced individual moves (offensive “go to” moves, offensive moves off the dribble, attack moves from triple threat and precision passing). We also offer “clinics” on post/perimeter play. Our coaches will emphasize the mental (shooting with confidence) and physical (summer conditioning) preparation that is necessary at this level.
All our coaches are Hooptown camp “graduates” who model the positive sportsmanship and character values important for basketball success. Philosophically, we believe that campers learn by doing – not by listening to a lecture. We believe that encouragement is the best motivator and always teach/coach in  the positive!  We believe that we offer the BEST camp around and sincerely appreciate the opportunity we have to help the youth enjoy the game of basketball.
